I had such a wonderful time at the tart baking course over the weekend! The event space was cosy, comfortable, and incredibly inviting — the perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable baking session. Gregory, the event organiser, was warm and welcoming, setting a friendly tone right from the start.
Gail, our chef, was fantastic. She explained each step clearly, was thorough in her demonstration, and patiently answered all our questions, no matter how small. It made the learning process so smooth and approachable.
One of the highlights was getting to sample the freshly baked tarts — they were absolutely delicious! We also had the chance to decorate our own fruit tart at the end, which was both fun and satisfying.
To top it all off, we received a thoughtfully prepared coursebook with detailed recipes and instructions, a baking kit to try everything at home, and even a little basil plant as a lovely extra touch.
All in all, it was such a fun and enriching experience. I’d highly recommend this course to anyone who’d like to elevate their tart baking journey!
The class was held in a cosy cooking studio, and the space was comfortable and clean. Gail Ho, pastry chef at a Michelin restaurant, taught the class. It was a watch and learn experience and relatively simple to follow along. The tarts that were created were really yummy. We ended the class with a hands on experience with the adding of fruits on the fruit tart.
Thank you Bakestarters for the experience. It is my first time attending a masterclass face to face and near to my home.
The ambience was calm and relaxing. Small number of participants and felt like a small family gathering.
The scenery is a wonderful backdrop where every kitchen owners adore. Breath-taking view with no blockage. Other than looking and focusing on Gail and her tips, I can't help stealing time to pour my eyes on the landscape behind her.
The interaction and hands- on experience to doll up my own tart was a great break from the sitting. The seat areas were rather cramp. I was glad to be seated at the last row as advised as my view was not blocked. Thank you so much for including the hands-on session. Since Gail had demonstrate how to go about building the fruit tart and other possible alternatives, I was not fearful to kickstart placing the cut fruits.
The experience to see and smell everything what Gail was demonstrating make me to hungry to. From making the shortcrust pastry to preparing the mushroom toppings and it went into the oven to bake and served to us, fresh was so fulfilling. It felt like Teppanyaki experience - from stove to plate right in front of my eyes.
From popcorns as starters and the pot of basil plant as the final takeaway, I felt like a little girl coming out of the birthday party with goodies. I was nothing less than a cheshire cat grinning ear to ear, as I was filled with knowledge, a filled tumtum and arms full of goodies.
Once again, thank you so much for the awesome experience. Indeed a well thought through experience.
Last but not least, ensuring the kitchen and the tools are not used to serve non-halal ingredients or making a halal-kitchen will open more muslim audience to attend your workshops.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Tarts in Bloom course. Cosy atmosphere fostered easy interaction and Gail generously shared her knowledge. The booklet is a wonderful resource and the baking kit a lovely way to get atarted on tart making. Kudos to the team.... love the basil by the way.
The best demonstration baking class I attended. Recipes are organized in a booklet format with lots of photos to guide us in the baking. Bonus recipes are also provided.
I am also impressed that we are given a bake starter kit with tart rings. This encourages students to try baking at home.
Gregory is very thoughtful to give students a pot of basil plant. It is a very nice gesture.
