How To Get The Perfect Lava Cake
Lava cakes have always had that oomph factor, and that's why you find cafes and restaurants charging high prices for them. However, it's certainly not as difficult as it may seem! Here are some of our top tips for baking that delicious and impressive dessert:

Grease Well

You don't want a beautifully baked lava cake, only to realise that you are unable to remove it from its ramekin. Grease your ramekins well and it will be a breeze for you to get your lava cake out. Just run a sharp knife along the sides and pop it out!

Let It Cool, But Just For A Bit

Although you’re supposed to serve lava cakes warm, allowing the cake to cool for a minute or two before you remove it from the ramekins will help the cake set a little and prevent it from breaking when you remove them. Removing the cakes immediately may cause your cake to collapse into a mush.

Ingredients

Your lava cake will only taste as good as the ingredients you use. So, if you want your cake to be absolutely mind-blowing, grab quality ingredients. Not only will the ingredients enhance the taste, it will also improve the texture of the cake.

Hi Fatima,

That will depend on your recipe, but it should stay molten for quite a while if you leave the cakes out at room temperature.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to drop us an email at general@bakestarters.com.

A LITTLE HELLO

We believe that baking is so much more than simply following recipes. Here, we look to bridge the gap between professional pastry schools, and the regular baker.
