What are scones? They're British tea-time treats very similar to biscuits (the kind you find at Popeyes), except sweeter. And in this month's subscription, we want to give you something that you can make in a jiffy, without any special equipment!
To amp up these scones, our baker has added some special mix-ins. These buttery treats are filled with caramelised white chocolate chips and cranberries to balance out the flavours.
If you're not a great fan of plain ol' white chocolate, then you should try caramelising it! Instead of making it sweeter, caramelising gives it a beautiful golden brown colour, and a toasty flavour which lends depth of flavour to whatever you add it to.
This recipe gives you 8x huge scones. They're tall, fluffy, and tender - what you want in a good scone. And if you're thinking of making them again, simply switch up the mix-ins with whatever you're feeling - dark chocolate, chocolate chunks, chopped pistachios/ any nuts; the possibilities are endless!
Store leftover scones in an airtight container at room temperature (< 3 days) or in the fridge. Don't forget to toast / warm them up in the oven before serving! Best served with a side of cream/jam, and tea of course.
